As a media artist, Andrés is actively committed to the communities where he has worked and lived. Andrés has a strong interest in public art, and he considers academia and art to be critical tools for rethinking our society and our ways of living. His work reflects a political consciousness founded on the desire for social change. After studying Industrial Engineering, his passion for art led him to become a photographer and experimental filmmaker. He interned at the prestigious VII Photo Agency in New York City and later received a master’s degree in Experimental Media from Université du Québec à Montréal in Montreal, Canada. Andrés currently focuses his work on the reality of exiles and marginalized communities that build their lives far from their home countries. This interest has led me to develop projects that explore local dynamics, but deal with global problems. His work has been included in the PHotoEspaña festival in Madrid and has been display at Centro de la Imagen in Mexico City. He lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
